AC compressor?

well the seals on the compressor have had oil leaking from them for acouple years. probably cause i never use the car that much so the ac dosen't get used often. now how hard is it to remove the compressor? looks like a biotch.. plus how much do one of these things run for replacement? how much hp is actually gained from ac delete? 5hp....?

Re: AC compressor?

The AC delete is pretty straightforward. Removing the compressor is a little tricky, but its mainly just finding the right angles to contort your hand to get at the bolts. Which, as you know, is the best part about working on an LT-1!!! You won't notice any HP gain. My main motivation was to clean up the engine compartment a little and the fact I rarely use A/C in any vehicle i own. If you keep an eye on the For Sale board you may be able to find a used compressor for under $100, not sure how much they are new. Mine ended up in the trash.

Re: AC compressor?

yeah the LT1 is a mother to work on... hmm not even worth that much money for me to waste on it. i rarely ever use mine either just worried bout removing it then being mad i did. haha would look and be alot cleaner under the hood. just hate how the oil from the condenser makes a mess, but it never does drip on the floor... cause it lays on my other hoses haha
