ABS Wheel sensor

When I first did my lowering springs I noticed my ABS light came on. When I got down there the cap in the back of the hub came off. I thought by just putting it back on would work but it didn't.

Question is is there anything between the sensor in the cap and the hub with the teeth? Is there a position it needs to be in? I've looked at my books and they show no pics.

Thx

Don't think the position matters, as long as you can get the connector on. When you said "came off", does that mean that it is not staying clipped on? Obviously, you need a good connection for it to work. There is nothing serviceable inside the hub.

What came off was the cap with the sensor inside. I Just used a rubber malet to tap it back onto the hub. The connector side has no problem. Again it was just the metal cap with sensor that is pressed on the hub. If there is nothing wrong I can't imagine why it won't work.

Oh, I see. Hmm, I don't think that part is supposed to come off. You are saying the whole, round black part that is in this pic, top left, correct?

Yep that's the one! If I recall at the time I had an issue with the last bolt lining up on the shock so I used a jack in there just enough preasure that all three bolts went in on the bottom A frame. The trouble was when I srewed in the top bolt for the shock it was off by 5 deg or so. I pivited off the other bolts intalled for it all to line up. No big deal right? Wrong...

When I started up the car and drove it for the car to settle I now had the ABS light on. I was too tired by then so the next weekend I got under there and saw it had popped out and was held by the wire. It didn't look like any problem it had a snug fit just like a front hub cover and tapped it in with a malet. Just like you would with a hub cover. Thanks for the pics.

If I need to replace I'll wait for my LS1 brake kit in 2mos or so.

Yeah, I don't know what happens if that part comes off. The ABS portion is not serviceable, so I have never seen it with that part off. Don't know if that messes it up or it can be put back on in a way that it will work again.

Well from the inside it is flat alum on the sensor, about the size of a dime and on the hub side a brass color 1'' dia with grooves all around. When I spoke to a local bone yard that has only Fbods they said once it comes appart it looses the magnatism inside.
So I guess it it now confirmed. But it doesn't make any sense.

Oh well still need to look at that ABS inop light But at least the brake light is off.
