abs problem
abs problem
abs inop light turned on recently. I replaced the high brake light bulbs cause I heard that is what normally causes it, that didn't work. I've read around that sometimes the calipers will cause a problem, I doubt that is it cause I just replaced calipers, rotors, and brakes. Is there any other common problems that happen to cause the abs inop light to come on or am I going to be stuck taking it to the shop?
Well, my ABS INOP light is on, and there are definitely no codes, I checked 4 times.
So now what? I recently got it back from the dealer as they were replacing my clogged up cats, and when I got it back, BAM, ABS light turned on. The dealer said because they didn't touch the brakes it's not their fault.
Anyway, I looked for plug wires touching the ABS harness, didn't see anything weird. Fuses look good, but I certainly don not have ABS brakes at the moment (I checked.)
What else should I look for? All the harnesses at the ABS motor/pump under the hood are connected.

I have had a few ABS INOP lights in the past. A while ago it came on for a bit then just stopped comming on and all was well. At the end of the summer this year it happened again and was starting to **** me off. One day I turned the front tires to each extreme and unplugged the ABS plug on each caliper and reconnected them. Haven't had a problem since.
I have read that this has worked for a few people. Try it out, only takes a minute or 2.

Sorry I just hate thread hijackers
Well, the dealer that screwed it up in the first place scanned it and said it had no ABS codes either (not that I particularly trust them anyway.)
I'va also noticed that when driving at night, on a pretty regular interval the voltage will drop significantly, from ~13.8v to about 11.8v for about 3 seconds, then go back up. It seems to do this about once a minute. Could be related?
I haven't been able to get under the car lately, as it's been pouring rain and I don't have a garage to put it in at the moment.
If the light is on, and the ABS brakes are indeed not working, but has no codes, what would that mean?

Ok, this is getting weirder. I just noticed that if I pull my ebrake with the engine running, my brake light comes on in the dash (normal) and my LOW TRAC light flashes! (not normal!) I can also hear a relay ticking away like mad under the hood.
Did someone maybe mix up a couple connectors on the ABS system?
