Can I convert a 93 Gas Tank to a 99? Water in the gas tank again!

Did the search, got the tee shirt. Lots of post but no definate answers to a fuel tank swap. There is apparently a plumbing problem and a difference in size.

I have water in the gas tank again! This is getting old. I have the gas dryer to get it back running smooth. I think I either need a fuel cell or a plastic 1999 or greater year fuel tank. I am thinking that when the car was T boned when owned by the previous owner, the tank must have a hole in it somewhere due accident. Maybe just a small hole but a hole.

What about a fuel cell or am I asking for problem with tech at the track?

I don't know if you searched under "fuel tank" but I found this:

No definite answers but it sounds like some people either did it or were going to try it, maybe try contacting them. Don't know about the fuel cell but I would think it could be a problem at the track since we have no "trunk".

water in the gas tank would make the engine run horrible because unlike gas, water does not combust therefor it would shake and rattle and if there is enough water it wouldnt run.

Water in Gas

Well as stated in the previous post, rough idle, miss and backfires through the exhaust. I use David Liles fuel additive, hard to find but Wal Mart is going to start carrying it soon. The last time this happend I used two small containers and within the amount of time it took the fuel to travel from the tank to the engine it cleared up and ran really good. His product is fantastic but known mostly here in Florida.

wolfe racecraft now makes a rear firewall plate so switching to a fuel cell shouldn't be as big of a problem as it used to be.
