ABS INOP light on...where to start?
ABS INOP light on...where to start?
Ok, today my ABS INOP light came on and stayed on when i started my car. It is not flashing but I was just wondering where i should begin to search for the problem before taking it to my mechanic.
This morning when it stayed on, and my engine was running i went and pulled the fuse in the engine bay and put it back in and hered a click or something like that (couldnt really here it over the engine) and then checked and saw that the light was off.
Does this sound like a bad relay?
Thanks

I had the ABS inop light on.
2 Scenarios
1. My rear Tail 3rd brake light wire came loose...that set it off.
2. My ABS/Brake sensor inside engine bay (near the ABS module) came out...that set it off also.
Usually it's an electrical problem when the ABS inop light comes on like that.
I've only seen the light come on "foreal" once...when I was sliding on ice and trying to brake.

OK, I checked all of the sensors and they look good. Couldnt actually see the back ones, where are they located?
Anyway, after guess and check i disconnected both ABS fuses and then when i put them back in i could here the relay kicking on and off. Then after putting the ABS ign fuse back in i heard one click and then both the brake light and ABS light turned off.
So it is deffinately electrical, and im pretty sure i have a bad relay.
I wonder though what could be making it click on and off?
Im not sure, any ideas?

Hey dude...surprised no one mentioned this but I just had that exact same problem and all it was was that one of my sprak plug wires were too close to it. Did a wire change lately???? I just moved the wire and the problem was gone. The wires affect the sensors if to close.
