ABS/INOP light staying on
ABS/INOP light staying on
Here we go again. lmao I have a 95 Z28 Lt1. While driveing tonight under normal conditions my ABS/INOP light came on and stayed on. I read in the owners manual that if this happens I should shut the car off and let it reset itself, which I did. However upon restart the light still stays on. Sooooo, to check to see if the ABS system was working I took the car out on the highway and at a speed of 65 mph slammed the brakes hard. Guess what,,, no lock up. It appears that the system is still working fine. The owners manual also stated that if the ABS system was failing that the brake pedal would feel hard or stiffer than normal. Not the case. Everything seems to be operating as usual. Any input as to what could be causeing this light to stay on would be appriciated. I know there is a ABS relay in the fuse block, but if this were bad wouldnt the system fail? ... Thanks
Have someone check all of your brake lights. Then check the third brake light switch which is right behind the brake pedal. Sometimes they go bad. Pull it out and figure out how it works (its simple electrical contact) and you can usually put it back together and fix it. I had it happen 3 times now.
