ABS inop light and brake light stays on!

Hello everyone. My ABS inop and brake light come on and stay on every time I start the car. It has been doing this for several months. I was told by the dealership it needs a new EBTCM(electronic brake control module) and they wanted $1,000 to do it. I don't have that kind of money. I have found several places that sell the part for less than $100. Anyone know where this part is located, and if so, how to change it? Any help would be appreciated. Please email me at chrisrsnyder@gmsnyder.com if you can help. My Camaro is a 1995 LT 1 with the 5.7 liter, V8.

I had the same prob about a year ago. Some ppl have been having the same prob on this board recently. I just said screw it and let it stay on. It eventually stopped coming on and now my ABS works just fine. It hasnt came on in quite a long time. DO a search on this board...lot of info.I wouldnt waste the money if i were you.Its probably just a ground.

How long did it take for yours to shut off? Mine has been on for about 3 months now?

Have you checked your ABS sensors? As for the brake light I had mine stay on after I changed out my battery. Disconnect your negative from the battery and leave it off for like 2 min. and see if the light went away. I solved my ABS light problem by just replacing the messed up sensors that were on there. As for 1000 bucks to do the job, man that sound like alot. If I were you I look around or ask to see if anyone would do it for less. Good luck.

I had exactly the same problem with both ABS INOP and BRAKE lights on last month. I had to bleed the brakes using the old pedal method. There is a shuttle valve inside the ABS unit that got stuck and bleeding the brakes using the pedal (not a speed bleeder) was able to dislodge the valve and everything worked normal agian.
Hope this helps

Why would replacing the plugs wire addect the ABS system? I understand why cleaning the ground posts off, but I don't understand why plugs wires would affect this problem. Any know why?
