Abs Inop

The ABS INOP light is comming on in my car and the brakes are trembling bad. I was wondering if the comp. will tell you exactly what is the problem when i scan it. The pads are fine and the rotors are good. Just wanted to know if it will tell me what is the problem before i spend the 25 bucks to get it scanned.

It won't necessarily tell you the exact problem it might say bad sensor on right rear and something else might be causing the faultor or something similar to. It might give you something like speed sensor inop, but it will get you in the ball park and help out.

having your third brake light out, will set off the INOP light. also, roughting plug wires too close to the ABS unit will set it off also.

Yep its true. My friend car had his third light out and he had the ABS INOP light also. As for me, when I redid my motor I zip tied my wires to the Abs line to clear the headers and ended up throwing the light.

my abs inop light came on just after i changed plugs and plug wires...turned out to be a plug wire too close to the front wheel sensor cord that deals with the abs.

re routed the wire away from that and no more abs inop light!

check your plug wires!

jmo,
steve

Cool

The third brake light is wired to the abs(indirectly). The shuttering is ,I believe, from warped rotors.Have you been stopping really hard lately?Overheating.Anybody else?

As for the vibration, sounds like a warped rotor or bad wheel bearings.
