? about timing chain install w/ electric water pump

I'm converting to an electric water pump with my new timing set, and I was wondering if I just unbolt the old driveshaft and its gear to make way for the new timing chain or if there is more to it. I'm talking about the small gear on top. Looks like if I remove it, it will just leave a hole into the lifter valley.
Did a search, wasn't really sure what to search for, proved unfruitful.

Now how do I get the sucker out of there? I removed the two torx bolts in front, and I figured it would just pull out. No luck. What else do I need to do to get it off?

When I pulled my waterpump driveshaft out the bearing stayed in the block. Does anyone know how to get it out or if it's ok to just leave the bearing in the block?? I was planning on putting a freeze plug in there but if it's too much effort I'll just leave the bearing there. O and I don't really wanna take the intake off to pound it out the back. Thanks for your help in advance!
