About to head to A-Zone, need heater hose size

I'm about to head over to autozone to pick up some heater hose. I need to know the size of the fittings that go into the firewall for the heater core. Also need a rough estimate of how long it needs to be to go to the WP. I know that I am not replacing it with the oem equipment, but we'll see what happens. I'm gonna keep it away from the headers.

One more question. I have not run any water through the heater core in about 3 months. It would makes sense to me that there is a chance that it will be more susceptible to leaking because it hasn't been used in awhile. Any suggestions. Thanks everyone...

Two diferent sizes. I believe one is 1/2" and the other is 5/8". Just to be safe I'd cut just a little off the end of each factory hose and take it with me. Also, flush that heater core out thoroughly, I'm sure it has some gunk in it.

Thanks, I'm pretty sure you're right on those sizes. I planned to flush it throughly. I was going to shoot water through there in reverse, is that a bad idea?

Yep, I'm good to go now. Just for reference its 1/2" and 3/4" Its all good though. It wasn't that dirty at all inside. I flushed it before I disconnected the hoses and capped the ends off so I think thats what helped. Anyway thanks again. And now I won't be freezing my a$$ off everytime I go somewhere

Heh, I know what you mean, the first time it got down into the 20s here at night I bought a new heater core the next day. I just about froze to death that night!

lol, yea, its such a simple system to maintain.... A/C is a whole other story. I fought with A/C in my car until the head gasket blew and then ordered and deleted everything. A/C, Emissions, everything I could. The car runs great now. Plus the room to work under the hood is great. But it sure sucks in the summer Freezing is definitely worse than putting down the windows and letting the wind blow through your hair
