About to give up on true duals...
I recently did the Pacesetter LTs, and a 3in. X pipe with bullets setup. The car is very loud and the ground clearance sucks. Any big bump or even dip in the road will cause the car to "sink" enough that it bottoms out. Any steeper driveways the exhaust will hit. Im thinking I will probably just go with the Pacesetter 3in. Y pipe and a normal catback system. With my mods do you think I'll loose much in terms of power? Also, what catback system is the nicest for the $$? I dont want to spend a real lot but I was thinking the hooker system possibly. Thanks

i dont think u'll lose a huge amount of power, maybe 10-15rwhp or so. I think that kind of sacrifice would be worth the extra driveability and will make ur whole experience behind the wheel much more comfortable. good luck

Go with a GMMG. Sounds awesome, and a cutout only makes about 1HP more on a dyno. Ground clearance is unaffected and its stainless steel :D

From what i have seen of true duals is exactly the same as everyone else.. LOW!! my spohn torque arm is low.. But the exhaust is really Low!.. Thats why i'm just going w/ a turn down off the 3.5" collector..
Have you gone through and figured out what exactly the lowest section of the exhaust is, and what actually scrapes? Poorman on here just did a 2.5" X pipe setup, and he gained about an inch of clearance just from turning the clamps on the mufflers upside down.
Also, if your springs are worn, your car will sit lower than it should stock, losing more clearance. My friend's 79Z28 with H pipe and Flowmaster 40 series has this problem. Original springs with well over 250k and the car has been in the air before...
makes for a low riding Camaro. Even still, he very rarely scrapes going over bumps and there is about 3.5" or less of clearance from the mufflers (lowest point on exhaust).
Just some things to look into. If you want to keep the true duals but want to quiet them down, you might wana look into Sweet Thunder chambered mufflers. I'm sure they'd be a little quieter than the Bullets.

I actually heard that they're about as loud (the sweet thunder chanbered mufflers) Someone made a true dual setup on here and decided it was WAY too loud...plus the sweet thunder chambered mufflers don't sound much like the GMMG chambered muffler and the people ive talked to who have had them haven't really liked them much...
may want to try the summit chambered mufflers...

hmmm, i guess mine are tucked a little better or something. i've had them on the car for over a 1.5 years and probably only scraped them less than 5 times. why not try a mufflex system?
My 3" duals hardly ever scraped when I had the bullets. I switched to a dual Borla XS setup and they will scrape a bit more, but only on good sized speedbumps. Usually the flange of the Hookers scrapes. None of the exhaust pipe itself has any scrapes. I'd never go back to a single exhaust, my car sounds too good with x-pipe/duals. Never was a big fan of the Z71 stock sounding exhaust.
I have a pacesetter long tubes, into a 3 inch true dual ending before the axle. ITs got an H-Pipe, and two dynomax bullets.
I have absolutly no problem with ground clearence. i Back it in the driveway (Which is very steap) and it doesn't touch, going in or out. If i pull it in head on i just go in on an angle nd it doesn't bottom out. I even get over spead bumps with no problem.
I made mine myself, and the only advice i could give is put blocks under the wheels or something. WITH JACK STANDS TOO, i don't trust those blocks. That way the suspension is in the same position as it will be on the road. It tends to pull the exhaust to one side when the suspension is released and it looks like it fits good until you let it down.
As for performance and sound... car pulls HARD AS HELL at 3k rpms. Unfortunatly it will not pass emissions. And it sounds awsome. Everyone says they are insanely loud, but i disaggree. Before the duals i had an sLP loud mouth. Cruising it is ALOT quieter then the loud mouth, WOT is a different story.
