abnormal shifts on my A4 tranny

the 1-2 shift suddenly got really jerky tonight as if i installed a shift kit. it's kinda neat at first but i no it isn't normal so it can't be good. i have 2.73 gears and the thing almost chirps the tires while barely giving any throttle! what is the deal? is my tranny going bad? or could i have possibly broke a tranny mount at the track lastnight?
the car is stock.
thanks,
Michael.

i'd start by checking your trans level, basic, but common problem for abnormal shifting....how many miles are on your car and whats the condition of the trans fluid?

i think its safe to say that it would either be a shift solenoid or somthing stuck in the valve body...im in the same boat in my Z...started slipping 2-3 about a week ago...but i dont have any solenoids ('93) so i skip straight to the rebuild....

tranny going bad is my guess. what does the fluid look like? is it a black color or still red? DO NOT CHANGE THE FLUID again. it is doing more damage than good. everytime u change it, it adds more lubrication which is moving around all the "gunk" in there which leads to lack of friction, which leads to slipping.

well, i just took it for a test drive to get the tranny warmed up for checking the fluid. it's shifting fine now! lastnight it was off and on too. anyways, i checked the fluid and it appears i'm about a 1/2 quart over full on the fluid (i know that's not good). but the fluid looked very clean and didn't smell burnt. so maybe i'll be alright? ...or could i have damaged something still?
