A4ers, Something I've Noticed
I've been wondering. I've been reading thru random sigs and such and from what I've seen, it seems that 2.73ers put down less on dynos (NOT saying their numbers are actually less!!!). Is there a possibility that because of the ratio there is something inaccurate with dyno results? Thinking about it none of it makes sense to me, but it was just something I noticed.

i've always wondered that myself... since lower gears spin up quicker... wouldn't that throw off the dyno to make it seem like you got an A$$LOAD more hp?
but, i ASSUME they put your gear ratio into the computer before hand, for it to calculate all that....
i've never dynoed... so i couldn't tell ya with enough confidence to put my car payment down....

Scientifically speaking, if anything, higher gear ratio cars should experience more loss at the wheels than lower. Mechanical advantage (higher ratio) increases wheel torque, but not with 100% efficiency. Higher advantage has lesser efficiency.
By the way, no gear ratio will ever affect your dyno readouts, since they can only change torque (instantaneous force) and will never affect horsepower (force over time) which is work. Dynos account for the torque multiplication anyway.
