302 camaro??

On the Camaroz28.com site there is an article about a 302 camaro that has the block of a 350 and the 3 inch stroke of a 283 i think. It said it pushed out 485 hp. I was wondering how much it would cost to do this to my LT1. Thanks.

I haven't the slightest clue, but i'd tell you to stick with your 350.

Don't build a Trans-Am racing motor for the street.

Nothing magical to it. You'd need a 3" stroke crank with the 1-piece type rear main. Then you buy a set of 6.25" rods and you have an engine that wants to turn alot of revs and makes alot less torque in the critical (street driving) rpm range.

Build a 383 or a 350 and be happy.... I am.

I thought it had 435 hp, but either way. GM built that 302 as experinment in racing engine technology. Its not all for the street, and they never contemplated even dropping it in an F-body probably because its a race engine, made to put out serious power for a short period of time. If they put that in a car for the public it wouldnt come with a waranty because head gaskets would blow 2 twice a month.

Yeah you can use the crankshaft and the rods out of a mid 90's caprice with a 262 cubic inch v-8(baby LT1) it was listed as a 4.3 liter v8. To top it off you just use standard 350 pistons

um yes it was in an fbody......

two diff gens.

they had the 302 back in the day in the first gen for about 2-3 years and also gm made a few LS1 302's they were at slp day and afew other events from what i herd and the vid i saw they tear ***. great motor but made more for running on the top end of your rmp's. I say go for it if you have the money do it and see how it turns out.

yep my dad used to have a 68 rs z28 with a 302 in it. had no traction problems running 12s, didnt even have to heat up the slicks but made incredible power up top.
