A4 Shift **** button gets "stuck" on cold days?

Ack! This is weird.. all of a sudden the past few days that it's "cold" (by cold I mean about 50-60 degrees out) my shifter button sometimes gets stuck. This is more evident if I haven't driven my car in a day or two. After pushing down on it a bunch of times it always frees up and it's fine, but I'm wondering what I can do to fix it? Pull the actual **** itself and lube the mechanism?

remove the **** and shift plate. look at the linkage and use a Q tip to apply some lithium grease to all the moving parts.Play around with it until it shifts smoothly.
