A4 question

I dont know exactly what is making this noise, but its driving me nuts! When i give it any kind of gas over a 1/4 pedal as it shifts there is a loud banging noise under my center console, like something is smacking it. I had the car up today to install a cai, while it was up i checked out the bar that goes all the way across the trans. It did not appear broken. I have no idea what this could be, any ideas?

Thanks, do you know how much they cost, and how many there are on the A4? I wonder,if i should get some type of high-performance mount,to prevent this from happening again.

when i first got my license i blew a tranny mount and it knocked my console really hard like you described. it cost me $18 for the part and took about 20 minutes to install. i used 2 jacks, 1 to hold the car up a bit (with stands too) and 1 to hold the transmission in the exact location it was so that i could pull the crossmember all the way off without worrying about any movement. just make sure you match the way the old mount was installed and make sure everythings secure.

Thanks for the help guys. I just finished installing an anchor mount for the Trans. $27 from AutoZone guaranteed for life. I am not too good with a wrench and it took me only 25 minutes.
