Do 977 springs require machining to the spring seats?

To do things right you'll need to run a hardened locator like comp's 4771.. which is a 1.550 OD locator.. which will need machining.

Sounds like way too much spring for a .550ish lift XE grind IMO. Either way, whomever is setting up your heads should be able to select the proper stuff for you I'd think .

I use those with some hardened shims, the shims are a cup style & the spring sits real nicely, no machining required.

What shims did you use? How much lift would this setup hold?
