Unhappy 97 LT1 coolant dripping.

I have a 97 camaro LT1. Every once in a while about a tablespoon or two of coolant drips out from around the water pump. All hoses are new and no wanter is coming from them. I just cannot seem to find the location of this leak. One thing i was wondering is if there is some sort of pressure relief near the water pump? Or is this a symptom of a bad water pump?

Thanks

No pressure relief except the two bleeder screws in the hoses. Also check your low coolant sensor for signs of leakage.. mine recently popped out on it's own and sprayed coolant everywhere

Re: 97 LT1 coolant dripping.

probably coming out the weephole in the back of the waterpump.
You can jack your car up (please use jackstands) and look from underneath at the back of the pump. Located at the bottom of the pump is a small hole. See if there are any dark stains around the pump and feel around to see if it is wet. It's a very common problem with the LT1. If you feel any coolant around the weephole the pump is pretty much done and needs to be replaced. If you let it go it can leak onto your opti causing problems with stumbling stuttering and can even ruin the optical sensor in the opti.

what he said.. most likely your pump going out on you. Change it now before it turns into a non stop stream when it gives out completely.

after jacking up the car i notice some comes from the top rear of the water pump. also some accumulates on the lower vacuum line of the opti spark. its not coming down the optispark, just coming off of that line. strange

Have you changed your thermostat recently? If you saw it leaking from the top check the thermostat housing looking for any leaks or any cracks in the housing. Otherwise, I am with all guys saying that is sounds like the WP is probably on its way out.
