97 headers on a 95

OK guys I did a search and found plenty of threads going the other way but my problem is; I bought a set of 96-97 mac performance mids from a guy for an excellent deal and I want to install them on my 95. I know that it can be done I am just wondering, what am I going to have to change in order to make it work? I got both headers the 2.5 in off road y-pipe. I have a gutted cat leading to a 3 in I-pipe which leads to a dynomax ultraflow. Thanks in advance.

If they are emission headers you'll have to find some adaptors for the air pipes. Otherwise they'll be fine.

Thanks for the response. I can easily find adapters so I guess I will be fine.

Re: 97 headers on a 95

Are the headers emissions leagal dual-cat 96/97 headers? If so, you may have more issues than you bargained for.

The big problem with th 96/97 dual-cat emissions legal headers is the way they have to route the driver's side header. To match the location of the stock cat on that side, the primaries kick up over the valve cover, and then back down to the stock location, where they terminate in a wierd triangular 3-bolt flange that matches the stock cat on that side of the 96/97 cars.

The result of the screwy primary routing is that they don't make as much power as the more conventional 93-95 single-cat headers, and the primaries heat up and melt everything under the hood.

Then you have the issue of the wierd flange on the drivers side, and no accompanying Y-pipe for them, since the emissions legal 96/97 headers use the stock dual-cat Y-pipe.

Emissions legal 96/97 headers are garbage.. get rid of 'em and go for something else... especially when you don't need them to stay legal!!

Sorry about the delay guys but it is the headers & off-road y-pipe w/out cats

I agree with the other guys that these headers are the worst and to put them on a 95 when you don't have to is asking for headaches, You would be miles ahead selling them and getting the earlier & better headers that don't melt everything under the hood.
