97-96 Edelbrock Shorty Header install question....

Has anyone here installed these headers???

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Looks like some kind of welding and cutting on the passenger side. How difficult was the install?

I have them... but they were installed by the guy that built my motor.

IIRC, the only cutting/welding was for modifying the stock Y-pipe, replacing the stock flanges with Edelbrock's.

Yeah, from what I can see of the picture in the link above it appears that the passenger's side is the one that is cut.

I hate to go cutting on my Y-pipe, so I may go with SLP's instead.....

I wonder how the Edelbrock and SLP's compare in plug access?

Re: 97-96 Edelbrock Shorty Header install question....

I ended up having to butcher my Mac Y pipe to fit the Edelbrocks.
I used a set of big-block kevlar O-rings to mate the rolled bevel
on the Y pipe to the ones on the headers. Not a huge deal, just a
little custom work.

It probably is much easier to use the Edelbrock Y pipe LOL
Unfortunately, it wasn't available. (got the headers dirt cheap)

Re: 97-96 Edelbrock Shorty Header install question....

I installed a set on my buddies 97 Z28. Total NIGHTMARE. I have installed 4 sets of LS1 LTs and 2 sets of LT1 shorties. LT1 shorties are just a pain.
