96LT1 , and water pump question on seal

ok.. a little worried and a little up set..
I unbolted my water pump so I could polish off the grime with a wire wheel.. I mounted it in the vice, lightly clamped it on one of the arms.. and went at it.
when i was done, I unclamped it and turned it around.. the impeller shaft on the back side has a seal around it and coolent had leaked through it. Now unless nose of car is pointing straight up in the air the pump will never work like that.. but I'm a bit worried that now that i have bolted it back on, that it will slowly leak and ruin the Opti. Would this be an issue? could I expect to see collent leak out there when turned as it was.. or should i cover my *** and buy a new pump?

thanks

Your asking if you should replace a leaking water pump?
