96 z28 performance code and crank sensor code?? Won't go away.
http://youtu.be/A7pECfXGlbc no more rod knock at least..I'm cabin http://youtu.be/HcrUcv4sP8I shifts at 6*** don't know how high into the 6000's I was to scared to look...
So the engine has had the rods that were bent fixed, new plugs put in, new crankshaft sensor put in,found out the old owner had the head rebuilt to oe standards. Has exaust knock? Replaced the driver side manifold gasket and it still has what seems to be exhaust leak!
The p0400 code is popping, the p0403 code is popping the p0336 code is popping. At stand still and stepped on it bogs, sounds like it's missing to. My oil pressure gauge also bounces all over the place.I'm at a loss here, I have no idea what is wrong and I'm ready to take it out to the middle of the desert and light the thing on fire.
What has been done so far: new opti, new crankshaft position sensor, new rods and lifters on driver side, new water hoses and fuel lines. Video tomorrow, maybe a video of its smoking carcass.

What are the EXACT numerical codes?
By "exhaust knock" do you mean an exhaust leak?
You indicate "It runs good, no noticeable problems."
Then you say "Please help, I need my baby running!"
Does is run good or does it not run at all, or just run poorly. Totally unclear from your post.

Sorry! She does not run great.i was misinformed, Exaust leak though unsure of the source. I'm not sure what the numbers are but I am going to work on her today and post those In a bit. And those pesky codes, I think the bent rods caused the guides to get a little messed up so I'm changing those today aswell. So much money dumped into her already!!

I did expect to replace a few rods, but this is way more then I bargained for haha. Guess that's how it goes though. Also I'm am very new to cars and how everything works on them, although I have admired and loved to here and talk about them since I was a youngin. So please excuse my lack of z28 knowledge. I'm taking everything step by step and learning more everyday the more I read up and help work on her. This website has been a great learning tool and everyone seems to be very helpful on what info I need to add into posts and what possible problems there may be.

You have to answer the questions... what it the exact numerical "performance" code, and what is the exact CKP code? I'm going to take a wild guess here and say you may be talking about a single code, not two different codes, and that might be P0336 = CKP sensor circuit performance.
Is that it?
If so, first, it has no effect on the way the engine runs, it's just there for misfire detection. Second, the PCM compares the CKP signal to the cam position pulses from the Optispark distributor, so if the Opti has erratic pulse signals, it might show up as a crank sensor problem.
Additionally, the problem can be caused by:
-Poor connection at the harness connector
-Excessive timing chain wear
-Excessive distributor backlash
-Opti incorrectly indexed to camshaft dowel pin
-Crankshaft reluctor wheel damaged or improperly installed (not correctly positioned on keyway)
-Engine front cover assembly (timing cover) damaged
-Sensor contacting reluctor wheel
-Non-stock camshaft
-Inductive interference from a nearby high voltage wire.
After the bent connecting rods were replaced, who reassembled the engine? Were they familiar with the crank position sensor/reluctor wheel install?

He is familiar with the install, p0336,p0400, code andp0403 code are popping. I also told him to check the Reluctor wheel he said it looked fine? About to sell this turd bucket, not literally...I'm just so frustrated and my lack of auto knowledge makes it so much worse... I'll post a video of her running tomorrow after work. Bogs down when you step on it at a stand still when you get going the speed gets there, it sounds very Lopey and he said the heads were redone wondering if a cam is in it? Has a bad exhaust leak aswel. Hopefully some questions can be answered. I don't know what information to post so please ask questions and tell me required information.

Given the fact you've already written it off as a "turd bucket" you should just as well sell it to someone who will appreciate and has the patience to see the repairs through.

I am just a tad bit frustrated, this is my first project so give me a little break. It's just my current feeling haha I do love the car but she is treating me like ****!
