96 Z28 normal temp?

Hey, I have a 96 Z28 and I'm just wondering any of you out there that have 96 or similar years what's your cars running temp range? Like when cruising and how hi does it get when idle? Thanx for the info!

With a 160-thermostat and reprogrammed fans, my car runs at 170 all day.

With stock programming and a stock thermostat, our cars are designed to run hot. The stock cooling fans don't come on until 227 degrees (235 degrees for the high speed). Temps will obviously be cooler at speed and warmer at idle.

I've heard of people putting in 160 thermostats. What does that do to the fan turn on temp exactly. And is that alone enough or do you need to reprogram as well? Thanks

When cruising, the temp stays at the first mark above 160*(~190). When idling with no motion....the thing will get as hot as 230* before the fans pull it back down to around 210* or so.

You have to do a fan mod also for the temp to stay really low with the 160 thermo i believe. My car even has a switch to run the fans constant if i'm running it hard
