96 Z28 Engine Help

I just got my 96Z out of storage today (finally). It was low (really) low on fuel all winter, which I know is not a good idea. I drove it around the block, and everything was fine, it had a lot of power, shifted well, etc. Coming up a hill by my house, the power was gone. It started sputtering, then the check engine light started flashing. I have never seen this before. I pulled back in the garage, the check engine light remained on, but it was constant now rather than flashing. I put a couple of gallons of gas in it for the helk of it, started it back up and it ran like crap for about 5 secs, then smoothed out. I let it run for a few minutes, then took it around the block again and it ran good again, but my check engine light is still on. Could it be possible that I have water in the tank, or that I simply got too low on gas? Should I be worried that the CEL is still on?

Re: 96 Z28 Engine Help

put more gas in it, drive it for a couple days, if it seems to be running smooth, the light should go out, it sounds like you sucked air/crap into the fuel system

p.s., flashing SES/CEL means catalyst damaging condition(usually misfire) detected

Re: 96 Z28 Engine Help

I would fill the tank with fuel and injetor cleaner. I would also pull the PCM fuse out and wait for 30 sec and restall. The ses light should go out.
