'96 Z28 Alarm Problem

I just bought a 96 Z28 and there's something up with the factory alarm. Everytime I lock it, either locking it with the remote or from the inside of the car, 5 seconds later the alarm goes off. I have to hit the alarm button or lock button on the remote to stop it. Sometimes, the car will just be sitting in the closed garage, and the alarm will go off.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but it does not have the factory radio in it. Also, the driver's side lock button does not work -- maybe this could cause something like this?

What is that sensor over the spare tire wheel well? Would that have anything to do with it?

If nothing else, I should be able to disable the alarm somehow. How would I do that?

The sensor in the wheel well is the shock sensor....i.e. if the car is shaken then it goes off...mine had the same problem and people on here told me to replace that sensor. I did that and still had the problem, however the problem does not occur whne you unplug that sensor, only while its plugged in. I have mine just uplugged now, my guess is that somewhere that bundle of wires from the sensor must be grounded somewhere and thus when i plug the sensor in, it completes the circuit and trips it. I dont no, but it doesnt bother me anymore, until i read this i forgot that i even had it unplugged.

Ive had my shock sensor unplugged for a long time too. Unplug yours and see if it takes care of your problem. If its not that, check your door switches.

Ah, yes. I forgot to mention that -- my driver's side lock switch isn't functioning right now. I'm going to pick up another one and put it in this weekend. So maybe that'll fix it eh? If not I'll try unplugging the shock sensor.
