Since you have a 96 SS the stock SLP 2OTL cat back exhaust is good. It's very free flowing. You won't gain much by buying another one, if anything at all. Only cat back I would get over the 2OTL would be GMMG or a Borla.. but it's not worth the money IMO.

I swapped out my stock SLP ram air CAI just because it was old and cracked.. I put in the K&N FIPK just cuz I didn't want to use the stock set up.

I'd definately go with headers for a first mod. A nice set of Jet-Hot long tubes will really wake up an LT1. Gears would be nice. Drag Radials too. For gears, since you have an automatic go with 3:73.

Alright, I was thinking the ram air and exhaust would be fine.. Thanks for giving me some ideas... Just wondering, if I get a cam would it be a good idea to get heads? Or could I run a cam without problems with my stock heads?

if you are going to go that far, super chevy performance has an lt4 conversion kit for small change compared to others. heads, cam, intake, rockers, in one kit. its a pretty good deal, and performs pretty well. i would get jet hot headers too, a very nice look and great performance. the k&n filter for the stock intake is cool. i had mine cut and modified to allow for extra flow; but it looks stock.

The best thing to do would be a hot cam, LT hedders, torque converter 2800-3200, sub frame con.,and a ring & pinion. That way the car can stay e-check legal (if it has to). Also it would be fast & reliable low 13's- mid high 12's. throw in a NX kit and you got an 11 sec car. All those listed mods will be well under $5,000. The only other thing would be a 12 bolt, but you can wait on that as long as you don't use slicks, but also don't expect 11's with out a good slick. You will almost never loose a street race though. If you live by Ohio, and need the parts installed I can do the job for you at a very reasonable price, and I have a dyno guy close by.

I live in fort smith, arkansas.. How driveable would the car be with a high stall torque converter like that? What rpm is the stock torque converter?

The factory converter is about 1500 rpm. I just did this exact conversion for a friend of mine, he has a 96 T/A convertable, and he loves the new mods. I guess picking the right converter would be based on your want's and needs, I don't think 2800 is unreasonable at all for street, still reasonably crisp response and will get you to the door step of your power band quick. I would go a little higher if you wanted a drag set up.

I wouldn't worry too much about replacing the exhaust right now.
I would look for a used Hypertech Power Programmer for your car
in the "For Sale" section here and install it along with a 160 degree thermostat. Also you can do a few free mods, like the throttle body coolant bypass. You could also try a throttle body airfoil, but some people see a difference and some don't. Last, if you had any money left over you could swap in a set of 3.42 or 3.73 gears. After you get some more money saved up I would invest in a different converter and headers. Our ram air setup isn't the most efficient either. Most SS guys that are after the most power use a regular CAI. Hope this helps........

high rpm miss wtf??

i have a 1993 camaro z28 6 speed. the car has a weird miss but only when hot. if i turn the fans on and cool it down for like 30 seconds it wont do it. when the rpms climb (4000) it will miss then go miss then go miss the go. its really weird only does it when its hot other then that the car runs great however somtimes its hard to start. its definetly spark the fuel is all good. im leaning towards opti as the car has 122,000 miles on the stock opti,or a clogged cat ? i dont know im about to give up. the coil is also new. please help it getin annoying

There is one dude that ran 12.3 with an A4 it was a 97 and he had headers, torque converter, cai, and a couple of other minor things... it was just a regular z28

That guys 12.3 A4 is a good example of what can be done with the right set up. My car would run about 13.1-12.9 @ 108-110 MPH on street tires (Hot cam, Hooker LT's), but I have an M6 which is tricky to launch, an A4 should 1/4 quicker than I do with the same mods. On a hot cam &100 shot & 3:73's I went 11.96 @ 118.5 MPH. Then I went to a 150 shot & 4:56's and went 11.21 @ 122.5. By that point I had a Moser 12 bolt, Built T-56 w/viper output & pro 5.0, BMR track pack/ ph rod/ lca's/ sway bars/ sfc's, Qa-1's and hooser 26 x 11.5 drag tires on Weld drag stars & matching skinny fronts. I dyno'd 275 hp 315 tq stock, 345 hp 345 TQ N/A ( hot cam & hooker LT's) and 475 hp 510 tq on a 150 shot. I have 90 K miles and my hot cam for about 25-30 K. Plus I kept the factory CAI + K&N, and the factory 2 OTL the whole time. Not to mention the fact that the hot cam changes the whole dynamic of the car, It sounds mean. My friend with the 96 rag T/A bought a bunch of B.S. mods, before he bought the real go fast parts... it wasn't pretty. He bought the Hyper tech, Granatelli MAF, K&N FIPK, air foil. And the car went 3/4 sec slower. The only good mod out of that bunch was the K&N FIPK, so you would of wasted $726 on the MAF, Air Foil, & hyper tech, that's alot of coin to make your self feel stupid. A hot cam kit and Hooker lt's, (+ new gaskets, fluid, oil filter) is about
$1,300.

Yeah, I have a 97 silverado regular cab sport side and I put a throttle body, MAF, and cai... and a shift kit. the cold air intake was the only damn thing that really did much.. After i did all that i wished i had just got a cam and headers lol
