96' Roadmaster engine into 95' T/A..Problems?

I just bought a really clean 75K Miles 96 Roadmaster LT1 for my 95 trans am that has a spun bearing and was wondering if I will have any problems hooking it up to my current wiring harness and accessories? I know that it has iron heads also. I am considering swapping my hotcam, alum heads, and timing chain over to this motor but I dont know if I can do it all in one weekend.

I would do it all while out of the car. Def stick w/ the aluminum heads and if the cam is in good shape I would go w/ that as well.

You just keep everything that is on your present engine that is different on the new engine. It's not much.

yeah just look over both engines real good and swap anything that looks different

and i also would do the head cam swap while the motor is out of the car, it will be so mush easier

I know it will be much easier but I have to have the car driving so I can take it to work next tuesday. My current daily driver Mark VIII is wrecked and not running. I am afraid that something will go wrong in the cam or head swap

Rent a cheap car for a few days... worth it to not have to do that stuff in the engine bay.

Don't forget to use your OBD1 knock sensor.

Not sure where you get that. Most of the national chains and pretty much any local company will rent to you.

A quick google search says that Hertz is the only place that won't rent to under-25, at least as of 2005.

I think it was Hertz that told me that. I need some roller rockers now. Can I just get some SA Comp Pro Mags and put them on with the stock head studs, hotcam springs, and stock pushrods and lifters?

Might consider leaving the iron heads on so your aluminums are sitting on a shelf awaiting porting when you should have the will and money.

The iron heads flow more than your aluminums anyway and with just a HOT cam the pressed studs are OK.
Only snag with using the HOT cam under the iron heads would be the springs you have are unlikely to fit the iron heads so you might have to buy springs.

This way if and when you decide to do ported heads you will minimize downtime then and for now there is no real downside to the iron heads other than needing springs and they are heavier. IMO though 40-45lbs of weight on a what 3600+lbs street car is of little concern.

Yeah I thought about that but....I already have a spare set of alum. heads sitting around Are these irons worth anything on eBay or should I just throw them away?

I was thinking I would just drive it like this for a while and then send the spare alum heads to Ai and get their 200CC CNC porting done, a solid roller (or big BRE w/ caddillac lifters), Ai ported intake, a scat forged 355, and then add a Nitrous Outlet "Money Maker" set to 225-300 with a progressive controller. Then I would like to swap it to a 4L60E w/ a big stall and put that T56 and stock headed hotcammed LT1 in my caprice wagon.

Whats the most I can rev these SA Comp Pro mags I just bought to?
