96 corvette motor into 95 trash can, need help quick!

Hey guys,

There is a 96 factory corvette lt1 crate longblock for sale locally.

I have a 95 Trans Am with a rod knock. I'm considering this vette longblock, but am curious if all my accessories, brackets, and all the tin will boltup to the vette block.

So mine is 95 F body, crate motor is 96 lt1 Y body.

Will everything bolt up, or, will I need new stuff? If so what?

Thanks.

I beleive the only difference between the blocks themselfs are the mains. I think the corvette blocks come with 4 bolt mains to where as the fbodys only have 2 bolt mains. So I do not see why it would not go in without modification.

Being that it's a 96 motor, you might check and see if its an LT4 or not. That would be a nice surprise.

I'm not 100 % sure this is correct, but I think the y body oil pan and crank hub and/or balancer are different. All the f car stuff will work fine on that engine though.

a walker is correct, harmonic balancer is different. You should be able to swap all of your f-body accessories and stuff onto that motor with no problems.

edit: a walker is also correct on the oil pan. the pickup tube is different too, but once again, just take all of the crap off of your motor and swap it onto the vette motor.
