96/97 LT Headers ... o2 sims?
96/97 LT Headers ... o2 sims?
About to have some LT Headers/Y-Pipe installed. They have the EGR and AIR fittings on them and are designed just for the 96/97 LT1 cars. Do i need any type of o2 sim or extension or something like that for any reason? I'm new to the header world and need all the info i can gather.
found the extensions on http://www.LS1speed.com and was curious, are 12'' extensions good enough? I'll need 2, right? Also, if i have the rear o2's programmed out, do i just leave them as is...or do i need some type of plug to take place of the o2's or what? thanks for the info.

Yes you will need 2 extensions. I think you'll need some 24"s. Do a search on the board, I'm sure you'll find lots of info about it.
If you have the rear o2s programmed out then you don't need sims. Just leave them disconnected.

Snake,
You will need O2 extensions, the 12 inch are not long enough, get a set of 24 inch ones. And yes you will need 02 sims or tuning for the post cat sensors. The sims are about $80 from thunderracing, but you can get them programmed out about $75-100 and you can have a few other things changed while your at it... One thing to think about, if you do ever plan on switching back to having a cat(for emissions) and you go with the sims, all you have to do is pop off the sims and put the sensors back in. In stead of getting a new tune.

I want to keep my cats. These headers are Pacesetter Long Tubes. I have decided to go with those and the Y-Pipe that is recommended. I'm going to have Madwolf tune my pcm. I need my gear changes/t-stat changes done as well, so i figure why not go ahead and get a tune? 1 thing i am a little confused about, deleting the rear o2's doesnt mean i have to lose the cats, does it? Cause i have to have my cats.
I'm running Jet Hot LT's with AIR EGR and dual 3" cats with the factory O2's after the cats.
I don't have any codes or problems even with a stock tune.
You could program them out or get sims because they just monitor emissions.

I haven't gone for an emissions test yet but I think it will pass no problem.
If you have the original O2's and they work you could weld in a couple bungs and you could have your cake and eat it too!!
Just make sure the don't do a visual check to see if their there.
