95z about to be shot...
ok guys im new here so please bear with me.. i have a 1995 z-28 with a 6spd tranny... here is whats goin on.. 1.when comming to a complete stop my rpms will drop down to about 300 then rev back up to about 1200 then level off around 800rpms... 2.sometimes when i pull into a driveway without accelerting the car stalls... 3.it seems as if i am getting very bad gas milage.. i would say maybe 200 miles to the tank... maybe a little less... if it helps any here are the mods... edlebrock headers, tps throttle body, K&N intake, cat removed/replaced with straight pipe, flowmaster muffler... not much but im just starting out.. anyways.. any help would be greatly appreciated... BTW.. great site... i have been reading the post for the last 4 hrs... lol...
My first feeling is the EGR is sticking. You can test it a couple o ways. When the car is running well, disconnect the vac line and plug it. Then drive it and see if it's better. You should however take it off and clean it.
The other thing that may be a problem is the fuel pressure regulator may have a hole in it. Disconnect the vac line to the regulator and see if it is wet or smells of gas. If it does replace it. Another way to check it is with the car off, hook a hose to the vac port of the regulator and apply a small amount of vacuum. It should hold a small amount of vacuum.
BTW if the regulator has a hole in it, fuel will be sucked into the vac line and then into the intake and richen up the mixture.
The last thing to check is IAC it can get clogged and sticky very easily. All 3 things are easy to check and cheap to fix.
Welcome to the board it's good to see new members and good luck to you

Do to today being easter.. * btw happy easter everyone*, im going to check the car out tomorrow and test the things you guys mentioned... one other thing i noticed just this afternoon.. i pulled up to a light next to a 00 mustang gt "and being the camaro guy that i am couldnt help myself" smoked em off the line and took off... got up to maybe 70mph then slowed down for another light about 2 miles down the road.. when i came to the stop the car was sounding horrible and felt like it didnt want to drive.. it made alot of sputtering noise from under the hood and when i gave it gas the RPMs bounced a little and it took me about another 5 miles of driving for it to smooth out... would that be caused by the problems you guys mentioned or is that something else? thank you again,
Adam

I'd say the EGR or the fuelpump is shot. Try plugging the vac line on the EGR and see if it helps. If it doesn't, test the fuel pressure. It should be 42-46psi. If it is lower, try the fuel filter first. If that still doesn't help, it's the pump.
