95 z28 no start
95 z28 no start
please forgive me as I am a newby to this site I have a 95 z28 convertable camaro I bought off craigs list it had been in a rear collision and the owner said it ran fine before the accident 3 years ago he parked it and never touched it again I have bought it and found no fuel pressure so I replaced the fuel pump and battery It wants to start but just runs for a second then stalls right out I wait a few minutes and again it fires right up then stalls it had a after market alarm that i removed hoping that would help but the same thing fires right up then stalls within 3 seconds any help would be appreciated
Re: 95 z28 no start
Welcome to this website,I would get a scanner and scan it for codes before you do anything else thats what most of the guys on here say to start with before doing anything else in a situation like that.
Re: 95 z28 no start
sorry it took so long for me to post again
I took a reading with key in on position and pressure in great then starts to slowly drop I jumped a wire from pos side of battery to the wire under the hood to bypass the relay and pressure goes right up and holds strong
still same problem starts right up then stalls

Re: 95 z28 no start
What do you consider "great" pressure? How about the actual number?
The pressure drops slowly when you have the key in the "run" position because the pump only runs for a couple seconds, and then shuts off until the engine starts.
Did you observe the fuel pressure when the engine started, and then stalled?
Hate to ask this... but could you include some punctuation in your posts? Hard to understand them without it.

Re: 95 z28 no start
Watch the pressure gauge as it starts, and see what happens when it stalls. Does the fuel pressure suddenly drop?
Have you scanned it for codes? If you have a code (DTC 16) for loss of low resolution pulse signal from the optical cam position sensor in the Optispark distributor, the PCM will shut down the fuel system. Getting a 95 scanned is always a problem, because it has a 16-pin OBD-II style ALDL connector for the scanner, but the PCM is OBD-I. The shop needs to understand they have to use an OBD-I scanner, and a 12-pin to 16-pin adapter.
