Talking 95 Z28 Camaro ignition module

What is the function of an iginition module on a 95 Z28 Camaro? My car is coding 36 and 42, and i need a fix.

The ICM takes pulses from the pcm and then directs the coil to fire. Your code 36 is a faulty high resolution pulse or extra low resolution pulse from the opti. The ICM can't cause that. Sometimes a hiccup from the opti will also cause the code 42 from the ICM.

How bad/often is it acting up? The engine will continue to run unless the problem is pretty bad.

Check the electrical connections to the opti. The one on the opti, itself, can sometimes get corroded. Look with a light, down into the opti.

I installed that opt-spark about 2 months ago. since the installation, my car rpm guage will bound a little from time to time. My car idle at 1000rpm, but it will fall a little lower. It seems like i have a miss, but its not bad; however, i can tell that its happening.

Was it a complete GM opti?

I bought it complete from Auto Zone for $130.00. It looks just like the original one i took off.
