95 Ta

Yo

I found a nice 95 TA with 88k on it and a M6. T-Tops and all the crap I want on a TA... awesome right? But theres damage in the rear and front headlight. If all checks out and whats all thats REALLY damaged is JUST the body? For 4k and about 2k in repairs... should I get it? Here are some pictures of the damage... minus the wheel. http://community.webshots.com/user/1995camaroz28

By the way, the car pushes about 320rwhp and 340torque... so mods are done to it. Thanks fellas...

Hmm

I would haggle the price of the car down a bit. 2k in repair, i think is low, unless you plan on doing all the work yourself. It needs all new covers and reinforcements, as well as headlight assembley, taillights, fogs, fender, hood, and anything else not deadly apparent. parst alone will run just about that unless you find some killer deals. Even with a bunch of mods id say the car as it sets is worth about 2500

It will cost more than $2000 to fix all that. My rear bumper alone replaced and painted was $1200. The rear quarter panel looks like toast. Check inside for structural damage.

The rear quarter-panel is damaged. You do realize that a new one needs to be welded on, right? It's not just buy some parts, paint em and bolt em up. You're talking front bumper, headlights, fenders, hood, rear bumper, quarter-panel, taillights... it keeps going. $2,000? No way.

For $4,000 it isn't worth it. Keep looking, don't just buy it to buy it. Find your car.

With that damage, the car is worth no more than $2,000... if it was just front or just rear, maybe $3,000, but you're looking at a lot of work. And yes, that rear 1/4 panel has to be cut off and a new one welded on... it's not a backyard job unless you have an expert body man in your family.

To give you an idea, my friend over 1.5 years ago bought a 1997 Trans Am WS6 (a real WS6), M6, 70k miles with leather and all, with only FRONT damage (perfect rear end), for $2,800 and it cost about $3,500 to fix it with FRIENDS working on it for CHEAP. For him, this was a good deal at the time.... 4k is way too high for that car, though.

$4k is waayy too much.. that's alot of damage, that quarter alone is gonna run you close to $2k... wait it out for something that atleast has good condition quarters, everything else(minus a few other parts that are part of the unibody) is replaceble and doesn't require grafting in a new piece

there is a reason that guy decided not to fix it himself (he posts on here, but I'm sure you already knew that, as sckyorzyk or something like that) too much money, etc.

Yo

Damn... that much to fix eh? He said he got it quoted for 1700$. I dunno... so if the price was lowered to, I think someone said 2k. Would that be worth it? Its real hard to find a M6 around here... everyone has autos and I hate A4's.

My Uncle owns an auto body shop, but he doesn't give deals... but I don't think he'll rip me off. He'll definitely cut me some slack for labor though.

But all in all, you all think I should pass it up and just wait for another one?

Stay away from that car. Shop around and you'll find something in a hell of alot better shape than that. Obviously the owner could not drive the car worth a cuss, so it probably has more wrong than just body damage. Ive personally seen much nicer 95TA's than that for around $6000. Be patient.

Aight thanks fellas, I decided to stay away from it and just look for another. Its rough though here in Jersey... all the goods ones are so far from here!!

Also, whats so special about a hotcam? Is that a certain type of cam or something? I see that then like a 206cam and all this crap!! I know this is off topic with my original post. But this card had one so I might as well.

saying the driver couldn't drive because the car is damaged seems a bit over the top.. there are other factors in an accident other than 'the driver can't drive'

chrisulrich, yes the hotcam is a cam.
