95' Lt1 engine & trans info needed
Hey all, I'm looking for some info on a company I am interested in buying a 95' LT1 engine from http://stores.homestead.com/powertra...StoreFront.bok. If you click on the left side Chevy, scroll down to 350, 5.7L then click on 93-97 LT1 engines it's the bottom engine Chevy LT-1 complete engine 95 Camaro/Firebird. I have read about in the last few days from their website and they seem to be legit. Anyone know anything about this company (personally perhaps)?
This's my 1st swap and I have read a lot of posts on this forum. I'm going to be dropping the LT1 in the car in my sig. and I'm looking for a tranny also. I want to switch the A4 to a manual trans if anyone can give me a heads up in that direction it would be great, love the stick. What size rear should I swap to, to accent this combo too?
All in all this will be an every day driver (summer). I will be doing all the mods myself... headers, cam, cia, exhaust, etc... while everything is out of car. The people on this forum seem to be very knowledgeable in the ways of the Camaro so all info will be greatly appreciated, much thanks, Chris

If you've read the swap posts on the V6 forum, you know you need a new K-member for the V8 install, along with a PCM and wiring harness. For the trans, you need a complete T56 assembly, clutch, shifter, hydraulics, cross-member, console, pedal assembly. The A4->T56 swap is covered in several threads in the "Drivetrain" forum. Avoid the 93 T56 trannies, as they have lower 1st gear ratios, lower torque capacities.
For the rear axle assembly, depends what you already have. You want a rear with the limited slip differential, at least a 3.42 ratio, and disc brakes. That axle assembly was optional on the V6's, in some years. If you don't have that already, you would buy a complete axle assembly out of a 93-97 V8 model. You have to make sure the new assembly matches the 3-channel ABS system you probably have now, and doesn't have the 4-channel ABS+TCS setup.

Thanks Injuneer for replying, I am currently looking in my area of NE PA for a donor car that I can swap out the k member, springs, PCM, fuel pump (possibly), rear axle assembly, etc... I have a 95' so in your expert opinion what would be the best/easiest donor car to get the parts from to swap to? Another 95' correct? Or are the 94's a good match too?
As far as the trans, going from the A4 to a M6, is this going to be a big pain in the a$$ as my car is an A4 and I have never had the experience of an A4 to M6 swap? Am i going to have to do any fabricating or anything of that sort to the console or drivers side foot well to add in the clutch pedal? Sorry if these questions sound a little uninformed as I am kinda new to this. I know basics about cars but not so much about the internals of the engines and such so bear with me please
As in my 1st post do have you or anyone reading this post have any knowledge of the Powertrain Products, Inc.? That's where i'm thinking of buying my engine from.
thanks, Chris
*** I just got a quote on a T56 trans from Powertrain Products, Inc. for $2299.00 plus a $1000 core charge, re-manufactured, with a 2 year unlimited mileage, parts, & labor warranty
Is that the going price for a re-manufactured tranny? The trans is more than the LT1 motor I want from them
probably better for me to get a used T56 than having it re-manufactured ***
