I bought this 383lt1 that was in a 95 formula I will be putting this motor into my 97 Ss. What will I have to swap over from my 97 engine to the 95 engine to make this work in my 97 Ss?

 

knock sensor, timing cover, reluctor wheel for crank sensor, balancer hub, and the worst is that the cam pin is longer on the 97 for the use of the newer optispark so if you plan on using the newer opti you will need to put the longer pin in the cam. If not you can use the older opti but then you also need the older year timing cover without the crank sensor. You can have the crank sensor tuned out since all it does is detect misfires. I just done the same thing as you on in reverse, 94 engine in a 97 car, just got done tonight with it and the kid drove it home.

 

95 and 97 both use the same vented Opti and cam pin drive, so cam pin length is not an issue. The timing cover is changed only for the CKP sensor.

 

How much a pain is it to change the reluctor wheel for the crank sensor?and the knock sensor is located on the side of the block?

 

It's a major pain and you don't need to do it. Just have the CPS code tuned out.

I've heard that the woodruff key for the balancer hub is different also.
I'm changing my 96 LT1 to use a carburetor and I was going to change to a 95 timing cover but the reluctor won't fit under the 95 timing cover, and to eliminate the reluctor I would have to get the different hub and key.
And then the accessory brackets wouldn't line up with the crank pulley either.

Since I'm going to tune out the crankshaft position sensor and keep the 95 timing cover on do I still need to change the balancer hub?

 

nope, the only reason you would need to change the hub is if you use the reluctor wheen on the crank for the 96 up engine. If you are gunna tune the crank sensor out you don't need the reluctor wheel. The 96 up has a shorter hub for the use of the reluctor wheel
