94z wont start
94z wont start
I just bought this car a week ago and it ran fine until today. Its been raining for 5 days now and when i went to go to work this morning she wouldnt start. It turns over but wont start. It ran fine all day yesterday, came home, parked, now it doesnt. Can someone steer me in the right direction? Im gonna try to change the fuel filter cause im sure the guy that had it before i did probably never changed it. Any help would be greatly appreciated cause i dont know much about these v8's.
Re: 94z wont start
I had it towed to a local PePboys and they called a few hours later to tell me that whenever they went to push it into the garage it started right up everytime. This is really screwed up. I dont think anything got a chance to dry up cause its still raining harder than ever.

Re: 94z wont start
It has been starting up for them whenever it heats up a little, but after sitting all night the next morning it wont start. Its cranks over but not start. They said something about they cant use the shrader valve cause the have to check the pressure near the pump or something like that. Does this sound like a fuel pump? Also, would it cost more to have a Chevy dealer fix it considering they know more about GM cars than Pepboys?

Check the coil as suggested and check the fpr as described. Pep Boys doesn't know what they are saying. The pressure can be tested anywhere in the system. Isolating the exact problem will require breaking it down but you first need to determine if the pressure is a problem.
Just to be clear, I am assuming you hear the pump run when you turn the key on. Also, inside the pump is a backflow valve that could cause your problem or the pump itself may not be producing enough pressure.
This may not be your problem at all so start simple by cheking the coil, check for a spark at the plug and check the fuel pressure. This will at least get you looking in the right direction.
I would find a competent mechanic if you don't think you can do the job. Search this site for many tips and opinions on different ways to get access to the pump. Pep Boys does not know how to troubelshoot a car and the dealer reapir rates are too high IMHO.
