94z heating problem

I have a 94z convertible whose heating system will barely heat the car on cold days. I had a flush done ( shop claims will reverse flush the heating core) along with new anti freeze and did not seem to correct the problem. It seems the car will heat ok for the first 5 minutes or so after the car reaches operating temperature but after that it blows out at the best luke warm air. Any suggestions for the solution of my problem?? Thanks for your help

1. Was the cooling system bled when refilled?

2. What thermostat?

3. What is the tempature on the temp gauge when engine is fully warmed up?

4. Where are you located and what is the current air temp?

Re: 94z heating problem

The cooling system was bled. I'm hoping that they did it correctly but I did see that they did open and then close both bleed holes.

The thermostat was replaced a couple of years ago at the same specs as the standard. I believe its a 180 ??

Its been cold here in the Northeast. Temps can be teens to 20's.

Re: 94z heating problem

If you did not do the flush yourself, I would be very skeptical if a shop took the time to specifically flush the heater core and hoses (which almost always cures a no heat complaint). Otherwise, your heater core may have a permanent restriction. When the engine is up to operating temp and thermostat open, feel the heater hoses and see if they are both the same temp.
