94Z has a spun main. need advice.

I just bought a 94Z with at least one spun main bearing. I'm looking for some advice on how to approach getting the car drivable again. It has 100k on it. I'd like to be able to go low 13s or maybe high 12s with exhaust manifolds. Drive it daily and bracket race on weekends. Should I just get the block and crank repaired? Buy a shortblock or entire LT1 motor? Or build a 383? Is there anything special about the crank in an LT1? Or is it just a 3.48 stroke 1 piece seal item? What gears are in the rear on an automatic 94 LT1? Thanks in advance.

It's so easy to build a 383, that I'd never do a 350. Scat and Eagle both make one piece rear seal cranks that are pretty decent pieces for cheap if you don't want to spend a lot of money.

As for the gears, either 2.73 or 3.23 with the auto. Check your build codes...GU5 indicates 3.23 rear gears.

You can build a failry cheap 383 for daily use. Get a cast 1 peace SBC crank for about 250, polish the stock rods, through in some forged pistons and you have a nice little 383 short block for daily use.
