94lt1 oil pan pick-up

Hey Guys,
Dropped my oil pan to install new gasket and noticed that the
pick-up tube below the pump was very loose. Should this be level with the
bottom of pan and somehow be staked so it does not move?

Re: 94lt1 oil pan pick-up

The oil pickup is a force fit. It has to be (gently) hammered into place when new. If yours is loose, it needs to be replaced. Performance engine builders often tack-weld the pickup to the pump body, to insure it does not move or fall off. When installing the new pickup, the screen should be about 1/4" - 3/8" off the floor of the oil pan.
