94 Z28 major fuel prb.
Well lets start by saying thank you for taking the time to read this, maybe kinda long (don't want to leave anything out). I have a 94 Z28.. Problem--dumping fuel in the oil (i mean a lot!) Now history---water pump went out and ran it hot, wouldn't hold water...pulled engine for rebuild. Now, its already out so why not go ahead and do a little bit extra right?.....bored .030 over, new pistons--- same rods and crank...<note: all GM Performance Parts> cam-525/525 intake and 218/228 exhaust.... 1.6 roller rockers... high energy valve springs..... heads milled just enough to make them straight again and valve job....computer reprogrammed by MTI in Houston TX....new distributor and coil...heavy duty timing chain set....edelbrock headers and.... of course (the culprit) new water pump. Now current-- Back together and in car, dumping fuel in oil, won't rev over 800 to 900 rpm with the pedal on the floor. Its like the fuel is not even going to the cylinders. It will "idle" on its own, but barely. I know with the cam it will be a rough idle, but i don't think it should be as rough as it is. It sounds like its out of time, but its not. I am pretty sure the injectors are ok, not really big enough, but they should do enough for it to run. Pulled the intake back off and had it rechecked, fluxed and all, its fine. The car has been to 3 local speed shops and no one knows what is wrong with it. The local dealership won't touch it because it has been modified. I don't have a lot of money and I really want the car going again, some have said the fuel pump, but really I'm not sure where to begin. Any help that anyone could give would be greatly appreciated. Again, thank you for taking the time to read this, sorry it's so long. Thanks
Be careful, crankcase explosions are not your only problem. Bearing trouble and cylinder galling from fuel washing the oil from the cylinder walls is a major problem also. While your looking for the problem, change the oil and don't run it long.
Like Ruffidlnz said, check the vac line on the FPR to see if it's wet. If so replace the regulator.
If that's not it, you should start loooking for dead cylinders. The first thing to look at is the plug wires in the correct order and are they healthy. I think your plug wires are in the wrong order.
