94 Z28 Dilema. Please Read
I dont know a whole lot abou the 4th gen cars. I have owned alot of 3rd gen cars. Well I am looking at a 94 Z28. It is loaded and the body is in great shape. The car has high miles on it. The car has 160k on it. The top end has been rebuilt a few months ago. The trani has been redone also. The water pump and Opti spark has been replaced. It runs good. The guy wants 3800 for the car. My main question, is that too many mile to buy it. Is it going to be nothing but trouble? I would like some expert opinion on the LT1 with high miles.
Thanks for the help

Thats pretty high miles but if it was well taken care of I think thats a pretty damn good price. Especially considering the top half and tranny have just be redone. And the opti, that should save you from headaches for quite some time.

Tough call to make. Price is fair for miles. Bottom end may last???? My 77 vette flew apart at 179,000 miles. but hey I didn't know how it was maintained when I bought it with 165,000. With the 4 th gen Z's I worry about all the electrical crap that seems to always be a problem & costly if you have the work done. The engine and tranny may last but all the other stuff?? If you plan on keeping it & upgrading with mods than go for it. Or save the $ and buy one with less miles for a lot more money. Either spend it now or later
If he was the original owner, then maybe. Never, if it's traded hands a few times. Too hard to find out what; if any of the problems were or are. One owner and documentation on all work is the only way to go imo.

well it depends adn a lot of ways to look at it
on one hand,if a single owner kept it for 160k miles, its for a reason
but then again, why sell now when you'll get almos nothing for it after all that work?
and finally know what your getting yourself into-
when a bearings spins or somethign else goes- can you rebuild it?
