94 vs 95 oil pressure sender

Is there any difference between a 94 and 95 Z28 oil pressure sender. The sender on my 94 engine was broken during the engine install. I had a new one from a 95 Z28, but the gauge is pegged with the engine running. I searched on several parts store websites and they seem to have different #s for these two years. So my question is will the 95 sender not work on a 94 engine? One other thing I am using a TransAm gauge cluster instead of the Z28 cluster, don't now if that matters.

Sounds like the multiple mis-matches of components are causing your issue.

Try Shoebox's part number listing. It shows one sensor for the 93 and EARLY 94 cars, another for the LATE 94 to 97 cars. The difference, if I recall correctly is that the 93-EARLY 94 sensor is located above the oil filter, and the LATE94-97 sensor is located on the block behind the rear edge of the intake manifold. If both cars (94 and 95) have the same sensor location, I would think they would be interchangeable. A full deflection on the gauge typically indicates an open circuit. Check the wires.

Both my engine have the sender on top behind the intake. I agree it looks like on open circuit. I did have to change the connector to use the firebird gauge cluster, maybe I crossed something. I'll ohm it all out as much as I hate to have to pull that cluster again, LOL. Thanks for the clarification on the two senders.
