A 94 "block" and a 95 "block" are the same....

if you're rebuilding who cares what's inside...

only possibly problematic difference you would run into when putting them back together is the vented opti uses a different length pin in the end of the cam then the non vented does.

Vented optis are cheaper, and seem to last longer due to the addition of the vent line that goes to the air intake elbow.

Oh something that might be a bit different is where the oil sender unit is located on the block on the early 1994 cars the sender is located on the block above the oil pan on the drivers side, on the late 1994's and 1995's the sender is located on the back of the block below the intake.

However the ports are there for both and one could convert it either style.

I've gone through a couple LT1 blocks and it seems like the earlier castings had thicker cylinder walls. If you have to bore I would probably go with the earlier one.

Are the PM rods any better or are they worse?

PM rods are stronger than the forged "pinks".
