IMO if you are going to contact a professional once for a tune then I would just stick with the original pcm type, a LOT easier to get Autozone or someone to scan it then too.

Far as deleting the CPS from the pcm I would be willing to bet you can turn off the CEL for the CPS but I don't have 96 tuning software to check that against.
I have decided I'm going to basically put everything back to 96. I have the 96 damper, and timing cover. The only thing I will need is the CPS sensor. While I'm in there, I'm going to go ahead and upgrade the cam. I would have to swap it for a newer cam, anyway, in order to use a 96 opti, correct?

Any good threads that cover the "daily driver" performance of various cams in the LT1? Looking for something that will keep or enhance the same low end torque that I loved about my previous 94 Z28 (several years ago), rather than mid - top end power. How about the price involved in properly tuning an aftermarket cam on obd2?

Also, how do I tell the hub's apart, without removing it. I need to know whether the 94, or 96 hub is installed in the engine. The two numbers I read on it don't seem to cross reference to anything

The 96 hub is slightly shorter to make room for the CPS reluctor which should be between it and the timing gear.
