94 T/A missing, where to start?
94 T/A missing, where to start?
I have a 94 trans am with only 6k on new lt-1. During replacement I also changed the starter (was bad), plugs and wires, new opti.,water pump. I also put a lt-4 knock module in because I added shorty headers, 1.6 rr's, lt-4 hot cam and raised springs.
Here is the problem: The car has started missing. I noticed 1 night that I could see a white flash coming from one of the spark plug wires. I also seen one by the coil. A friend of mine decided to touch the coil and it jolted the **** out of him. He said it went completely through his body. The wires are new but the coil is not. What is the best way to test them? Is it even related?
I also considered a vaccuum leak.

Re: 94 T/A missing, where to start?
Well, first off you might want to use some of that moly grease stuff they sell at auto parts stores, usually called "Connector protector", or whatever, and put it on the insides of all your boots on all your wires. It helps to prevent shorts in your ignition. If it's still doing it you should probably check your coil. There's a diagram in the Haynes manual on how to do it, basically you're measuring resistance with an ohmmeter, one resistance should be low, the other should be high, but neither should be zero or infinite.

Thanks greendemon for the tip. I am also going to change the rubber boot on the throttle-body because it is torn by the clamp. I have heard that trick flo makes a good replacement.
