94 LT1 starter heat shield

Does anyone know if the started for a 94 LT1 suppose to have a heat shield on the selonoid. My car starts fine when you first start it but after a few short trips the car starts slowly like the battery is low. I have a new Interstate battery, also checked all the connetion to the starter it is good and tight. I was wondering if I need to put a heat shield on the selonoid or just get a mini starter.

New starter or old oem starter?

If it's the stock oem one, you mite need a new starter. These things go, but if it's new recheck your connection and invest in an optima redcap battery, its a great battery.

I haven't seen a shield on oem applications, i know my maro's didn't have them.

I dont think that the starter needs any sort of heat sheild. Sounds like you got other issues other then heat.
