94 LT1 Air Pump Removal
94 LT1 Air Pump Removal
Jet hot long tubes are in, however my buddies dad left the air pump in and just cut the lines back and put caps on the lines running to the headers. The caps blew off now I have a ticking noise. I would like to remove the entire air pump assembly because I do not think capping it is a good idea. It will still be pumping.
So how do I attempt removing everything?
Will I need a different belt? what size will i need?

Re: 94 LT1 Air Pump Removal
There is nothing wrong with capping the ports on the headers just as long as you use a good plug.
The AIR pump is electric...it is not belt driven.
Removing everything is easy - just start removing stuff. There's at least a dozen threads on the subject so I'd start with a search.

Also I am concernced because after the lt install with ORY Pipe I now throw service engine... Any ideas? It is a 94. He also replaced the 02 sensor and the oil sending unit was bad so he replaced that. Any ideas on the engine code?
Re: 94 LT1 Air Pump Removal
Code may be from egr being blocked off?
Still semi confused on the proper removal of this. I did a search and I am not clear on what to do with the vacuum lines.
What about the thick vaccum style line that runs to my cai?

Re: 94 LT1 Air Pump Removal
I just completed a removal of both the A.I.R and the EGR. I am assuming from your signature it is on a 94 lt1?
When you remove the A.I.R you have to cap off the line that runs to your cold air intake. You also have to cap off the headers. What I used to cap off my headers was a 1/2 " brass hex head plug. do a search on google and you can find a picture to see what one looks like. I also used some muffler cement to seal the plug and the prevent it from vibrating out. It comes in a tube and is heat activated. good to 1600 deg Fahrenheit.
I dont post much so I am not sure how to include a picture. here is a link http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/192/img7111j.jpg/

Re: 94 LT1 Air Pump Removal
Headers all in everythings good except they burnt threw a wire that rested on. So i have msds. any tricks to routing these wires? anyway to route around headers? tricks tips?
Re: 94 LT1 Air Pump Removal
My MSD's are routed from the bottom, but I don't run them off the Opti. Wires are 10 years old, and never had a burnt wire.
