94 Formula

Yo

I just posted questions regarding the same thing but with a 95 TA. This time its a 94 Formula.

Heres the deal

5500$ for a 94 Formula:
99k Miles
Shorty Headers
Tri Flow Exhaust
Hearst Shifter
Corvette ZR-1 Rims (Wide Wheel Base Thing)
Lingenfelter Air Intake Charger
Throttle Body Air Foil
Random Tech Cat Converter
Manual Fan Mod
Ram Clutch (****ty one I hear)
T-Tops :-)

BUT!! Bad thing is...
All 4 Rotors and brakes need replacement
Exhaust Leak around the header (I want the replace the shorties with Jet Hot LT's anyway if that makes a difference, which I think it should, right?)
Broken Motor in the drivers side window.

Body is pretty mint and drives real good. Weird thing is though, it doesn't spin them when I punch it in first? I thought that was weird anyway.

Thanks in advance fellas.

I'm sure there is a question in there some where? If the question is "is it worth it?" The answer is NO but you have to decide for yourself. In my area of the country, there are much better deals at better prices. But hey I only pay about $378.00 dollars a year for full coverage on my 94 Z too. Sorry couldn't resist, I used to live in Jersey too.
If you like it and don't mind the work, and can't find a better deal, go for it. You are your own worst critic. Remember that.

That's a pretty good deal actually, I'm sure the gas leak is fixable, the brakes will cost $300, the motor, $150, kind of high mileage. I think a fair would be $5000 It depends on what maintainence has been done on it, At that mileage it's hard to tell, if the motor hasn't been tuned then it will need it soon, same with opti sensor and coil pack, battery, drive belt, all that stuff, that all determines it's worth. IF it has most of that done, it's probably worth more than what he's asking.

It doesn't spin in first because it's got good wheels and tires, if you want to spin you have to rev up to about 2000 and engage the clutch, then just slowy increase the thottle.

It is inevitable that something is going to need to be replaced on a car with 99K miles. Depending on the shape of the body and the options that came on the car, I would say it isn't a bad deal.

So all in all after repairs its about 6100$... if the timing chain and opti sensor checkout and are fresh... 5500$ sound good? I gotta ask about those I guess...

The tires aren't that fresh... I would think if I floored it in first, it would spin them. I can spin the tires in my 93 Escort GT if I rev it up. I can even chirp it just by flooring it. I would think a Formula with a full exhaust could do more. I took off, don't get me wrong... but I just thought it was odd.

I garuntee that your escort doesn't have 9 inch tires either, Use www.kbb.com to determine what the car is really worth. What I see though is a lot selling their Lt1 because they don't want to pay for the maintaince it needs, It may need $4k in work over the next year or 2. If the seller isn't braging about the things that are new then you should assume that they probably will soon need work. It's hard to tell just by mileage but with 99000 you can't assume anything, Most people will let you have a mechanic look at it so they can tell you what shape it's in. You just got to consider everything when buying a car that old.

about the tires id suggest getting new plugs and wires... that always can slow a motor down.

You mean you didn't go anywhere as if you just sat there and spun them or no power?

I think it was at like 2k or so... But even if I floored it at 1500... wouldn't the power pickup and just cause it to spin?

I dunno... I thought a stock Trans Am or Formula could spin it if you punched it in first... I guess I was wrong.

Well, I am going to ask question about that type of crap to him. I hope it works out

even in my a4 if i get the rpms above 2000 it'll just sit there... i let go of the brake at 2000 in my a4 and the rpms just sky rocketed to 5700 for several seconds before i moved

on that run i left about 200 feet of rubber. (just recently slurried streets)

So you think somethings wrong then? Why don't you think it spun the tires?
