94 camaro z28 leaking anti freeze

The engine is making a chirping noise intermentantly once it does then it leaks anti freeze in the front center of the engine.Probrably a bad water pump my guest?.I am mechanically inclined .I repair laser printers for a living and I can do most of the repairs on my cars but when it comes to replacing water pumps on cars 50-50% I can do it right.I tried to replace one on a 96 monte carlo and lasted only about a month.Any thoughts?

The chirping might be the sound the serpentine belt makes when it's wet. As for the leak, there is a weep hole under the water pump (literally a small hole in the body of the water pump). I've used a small dental mirror to make it easier to look under the pump at this weep hole. If it is leaking water from that location the pump needs to be replaced. Strongly advise to replace immediately if that's the case, as to avoid drowning the optispark which will cost even more than the water pump.

I found the leak after I had the car warmed up I jack the car up looked under the weep hole no leaks but were the heater core hose that runs to the water pump it was starting to leak caused by the a/c compressor clutch starting to chew into the hose a very small leak which would of gotten worse over time.I patched it up by cutting the hose into two and using a connector to go in between and use two clamps and I used zip ties to stay away from the a/c compressor clutch. It must have starting to happen after I recharged the a/c two weeks ago and the quote unquote ex car mechanic who I bought it from about a year ago did not tighten the zip tie enough after he cut and spliced a hose before me.I ordered another heater core hose kit from gm and get it done right.I am happy that it was not the water pump.Thank you CSTIRNFST

Glad to hear it was something relatively simple and not expensive. Right after I replaced the heater hose assembly, I noticed one of the hoses rubbing in the same place, but was lucky enough to catch it. Gotta love those zip ties.
