94 camaro overheating prob. URGENT
ok ill start from the beginning, i bought my camaro of my neighbor and he had it sitting their for about 1 year so when i got the car the car was overheating after like 20min so this is what i did checked if the fans were working and they were, so i took off the radiator and flushed it wow it was filthy with rust i cleaned it and clean water was coming out, so wen i put back all the hoses and hooked up the radiator the car turned on but it was heating up faster than before so i went to see if the fans were on and i found out that they weren't so what could the prob. be? and the car wont start no more it just cranks and wont start by the way the car does not have a thermostat. im thinking its the gas but why wont the fans go on? ohhh and the battery went dead for some reason?
hope i explained everything fine

The fans don't come on until 226°, so they won't be on right away. Install a correct, long style LT1 thermostat. Bleed the system properly, so that there are no air pockets.

u should bleeds your cooling system as shoebox said, did u flush engine block?? do all the followings one time:
1- flushing of engine block
2- flushing of radiator
3- installing a new thermostat
4- bleeding, do it more than one time just to be sure that there is no any air in system.

Refiushing the radiator is a crap shoot...when it's this bad
LT1 cooling systems are finicky after 100k miles or so and build up internal deposits throughout the system. Solids form from the many substances, diverse metals and oxides. these often cannot be drained out easily and your overheating worries will likely persist. Best bet is a new radiator or remove yours and have it done by a radiator speiality company.Hook a charger to the battery...The non-start is a seperate issue and could be water on key ignition parts, wiring, opti, etc. To get it to start you need to see if it is getting two things: gas and spark.
I has a simlar problem and found out quickly it wasn't a spark issue when I squirted some raw fuel in the throttle body and it started right up.
As shoebox said, the thermostat is important. In fact, in the LT1 cooling system, not having a thermostat will cause coolant to short circuit around the radiator even when the engine is hot. The thermostat and water pump housing are designed to do this when the engine is cold, so that coolant can circulate and prevent any steam accumulation in the heads, but not go to the radiator. As it heats up, this "short circuit" path should close off and the radiator path should open. If the thermostat isn't there, both paths are open, and the coolant will take the path of least resistance (bypassing the radiator).
